Environmental Technician

 An environmental technician’s job is to monitor and investigate environmental pollution by performing lab tests and field tests. Environmental technicians tend to work with scientists, engineers, and other technicians. Their job entails the collection of water samples, monitoring, and sampling asbestos, lead and mold in the air, performing basic calculations, computer data entry, and operating heavy and light equipment. To become an environmental technician, you must either have a certificate or an associate degree in applied science or a science-oriented field. Some jobs require a bachelor’s degree in chemistry or biology. This field needs someone with strong reading comprehension skills, critical thinking skills, communication skills, and observational skills. Environmental technicians who work for the government are usually highly compensated. The median salary is $50,560 a year. The bottom 10% in this field makes less than $32,380 a year. The job outlook from 2016 to 2026 is to rise 13%.
