Family Tree

 Welcome to my family tree!

While it is much bigger, this particular family tree goes back four generations. The oldest birth being in early 1910's and the youngest being in the 2000's. Currently, I have up to the 1300's for some of the earlier birthdays in my family, for some branches. While, for the Cantin name, I have up to the 1500's for earliest know birthdates of family members.

*As you might notice, there is some mark ups created digitally for privacy reasons.*

Even just in theses four generations, there is actually even more leaves on these branches. As one of my great grandmother on my moms side has 3 other children's, whom would be my half great aunts/uncles. While my other great grandmother on my moms side, had multiple children whom would also be my half great aunts/uncles, along with a few step children. One of my great grandfathers, also on my moms side,  had a few step children. As you can see, big family.

Why do I research and collect data going back literally hundreds of years? Well, the answer to to that is simple: I find it fun and interesting. My father has spent many years collecting the data he has found on Ancestry. So I can't really take that part of the credit for the hardship. For any one who doesn't know what ancestry is, it is a research tool and family tree maker. It allows you to find "missing links" in your family, as it is connected with other peoples research. Kind of like a really, really specific Wikipedia. I find it so fascinating to know all of this because its very exciting, in my opinion, to know where you come from. It allows you to find possible answers to some of your questions; where do I get my blue eyes from?; where do I get my love of music from?; where did my family originally come from?; how many cousins do I really have?: am I related to anyone famous?; what did people in my family possibly experience based on when they were born? There are so many things to learn. So any things that got you to where you are today. They all make you who you are.

To answer one of those questions, I am distantly related to Celine Dion and Justin Trudeau. Partly because of my French Canadian descent.

On that note, if you are interested in finding out about where you come from, i highly recommend ancestry or even just asking your family to tell you some stories. You never know what you might learn.

As my French Canadian background would say,

Allez-y doucement!

Elizabeth
